A Canadian start-up will be launching a “bitcoin integration” on Monday, November 25th which will allow employers of small-to-medium businesses pay a part of their employees’ paycheck in Bitcoin — making getting paid at the end of the week a worthwhile investment.
A partnership between Wagepoint and Canadian Bitcoin exchange Wagepoint makes this whole thing possible (VirtEx also partnered with Robocoin to make a Bitcoin ATM).
“Bitcoin is gaining traction as a mainstream currency, and as more merchants sign up to accept Bitcoin, it is inevitable that this virtual currency will find its way into compensation. So, we built an option in our payroll software for employees to convert a portion of their net pay into bitcoin. It is an idea founded on our progressive views to help address the changing needs of the digitally savvy workforce,” says Shrad Rao, Wagepoint’s CEO.
The company won’t charge extra for the integration if on the Wagepoint Pro plan, which is priced at $20 base fee and an addition $2 per employee.
