A new server at social sharing website Reddit has been named in honor of Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonym for the person/persons behind the idea and creation that is Bitcoin. The community decided on the name on the exclusive /r/NameAServer subreddit, which allows community members (those who have paid for Reddit’s premium service, Reddit Gold) to pick names for new servers being put online as Reddit continues to grow and require more hardware.
“I agree with Satoshi. I wouldn’t have been able to buy my 36 months that I bought yesterday if it weren’t for Bitcoin, but calling it “Bitcoin” is a bit on-the-nose, I think. “Satoshi” is a nice reference,” writes one user.
“I couldn’t live with any other name,” says another user.
Reddit is one of many online companies today accepting Bitcoin payments for premium service. Some other servers the community has named include “test-server-please-ignore” and “such-stability-wow”.
