Yesterday, various media outlets (including newsBTC) reported that the first known Lamassu bitcoin vending machine was to hit New Mexico in the coming days.
As it turns out, that just might not be accurate. Reddit.com user ‘odds-on’ posted this photo to a photo sharing service, noting that he spotted the Lamassu machine during his morning commute in Boston’s South Station right here in Massachusetts.
The device is branded with a LibertyTeller logo, and it would appear the company has a website. Therein, information that the company was founded by close friends Kyle Powers and Chris Yim.
We want to tell people that they are now free to use bitcoin as an alternative to slow and expensive megabanks and credit cards, so we named this small business Liberty Teller. Our kiosks help us tell that message by making bitcoin simple and safe enough for anyone to use.
The company’s website confirms the location of the Lamassu device in South Station, near Track 6 of the train platform. No word on other device locations for now.
According to LibertyTeller’s Twitter account, the kiosk was launched today, making it the first of its kind in the nation.
newsBTC has reached out to Powers and Yim for comment, but did not receive an immediate reply.
