Microdonation service Flattr no longer supports bitcoin as a means of account funding, we’re learning.
Flattr allows its user base to support content creators by donating a small amount of money every time they ‘Flattr’ a link, video, or other content they enjoy or appreciate.

The news of bitcoin’s disappearance from the service comes from social media users, who began reporting that the bitcoin option on the service no longer appears.
The inquiries were soon met with a response from Flattr business development manager Evan Schoepke, who noted that the option was no longer available due to problems on the technical side of things.
Flattr has “had technical issues with BTC payments & plans to return BTC support once those issues are resolved,” according to Schoepke, who addressed the matter in more than one tweet.

Linus Olsson, also co-founder at Flattr, chimed in by adding that he wasn’t sure even if the bitcoin option on Flattr would be coming back.

For now, users are mostly left in the dark, uncertain as to whether or not they’ll be able to use their favorite digital currency as a means to support the content they love.
