When they said that Canada is becoming the place for bitcoin-centric activity, they weren’t lying.

Amid the slew of bitcoin ATMs (made be several manufacturers) in the country comes another, a Robocoin ATM installed in the country’s western coast in Vancouver, according to this post on Reddit.

The announcement came from an unnamed representative of the the ATM’s operator Thursday evening:

“I know this may not be as exciting as the Dish Network acceptance or possibly the acceptance from Ebay and PayPal, but here is one more 2-way Bitcoin ATM for the Vancouver area!”

The device is located at 986 West Broadway and Oak, in a Thai/Vietnamese restaurant. When asked by a fellow Reddit user whether the establishment it’s been set up in accepts bitcoin, the operator said that they are in the process of getting the restaurant set up to accept the digital currency.

But what makes this newsworthy is that the installation of this machine is in the same city as the first Robocoin ATM to be launched — also assumed to be the first two-way ATM launched, too.

That first device — or kiosk — went live last year in a downtown establishment, the Waves Coffee Shop. There was extreme excitement surround the launch of the ATM, which saw $10,000 in transactions on the first day of service.

In a one-week period, that ATM pulled off $100,000 in transactions in the first eight days, and an even more impressive $1 million in the matter of a month.

Of course, the hype surround two-way bitcoin ATMs has died down since last year, but that doesn’t mean the newly-installed ATM on West Broadway won’t see use — especially with Canada’s more relaxed view on bitcoin buying/selling.

Adds the operator:

“…the ATMs in Canada are a lot less strict then they are in the US or in other parts of the world for all of the new users. You don’t need to provide your DNA, first born, or hair sample. Just walk up, choose to buy or sell and that’s it!”

More locations are planned, according to the announcement.
