Republican gubernatorial candidate Andrew Hemingway is betting big on bitcoin.
His idea is that bitcoin — the emerging digital currency — could very well play a key part in the economy of his state of New Hampshire.
This “young and dynamic” and “tech savvy” candidate is said to be a true believer in bitcoin and is reportedly “unequivocally” opposed to the recently-released proposal from the New York Department of Financial Services, which aims to regulate the digital currency (and becoming the first US state to do so).
“There’s no reason that New York has to be the world financial capital for Bitcoin,” Hemingway said. “New Hampshire had more Bitcoin nodes in the early days than any other state, and a state motto of ‘Live Free or Die.’ My administration would look for ways to stimulate, not stifle the growth of Bitcoin as an industry.”
As part of Candidate Hemingway’s pro-bitcoin platform, he says that bitcoin should be accepted as a means of payment for taxes and fees, adding that there should be no added regulation of bitcoin or other digital currencies in New Hampshire.

The candidate supports pro-bitcoin initiatives that will encourage innovation, of which include the use of the bitcoin blockchain in order to help make government more efficient.
BitBomb603
As part of his campaign, Hemingway will be holding a “money bomb” in bitcoin, aptly named BitBomb603 (where 603 stands for the New Hampshire telephone area code).
The idea? Raise money for the campaign.
During the money bomb (which started on 14 August), bitcoin enthusiasts will be able to donate up to $5,000 per cycle in the digital currency.
The BitBomb lasts one week.
