Bitcoin entrepreneur Roger Ver is at it again. This time around, he’s got a new venture he’s plugging, and to get right to the point, it’s a bitcoin-funded anonymous bounty hunter service.

Launched at BitcoinBountyHunter.com, Ver’s service allows anyone in the world to contribute bitcoin to a number of bounties, with the money going to anyone who can provide useful information leading up to the arrest of suspects involved.

“BitcoinBountyHunter.com represents the first step into a new era of law enforcement and the protection of individual rights,” Ver said in a video announcement Wednesday. “Thanks to bitcoin […] for the first time ever, anyone across the globe can privately contribute funds to individual bounties that will directly motivate law enforcement agencies to arrest perpetrators of crimes that people actually care about.”

A glance at the website shows three bounties listed thus far. The most popular of which relates to a hacking of both Satoshi Nakamoto and Roger Ver’s email accounts. The bounty reward, as of this writing, is pegged at Ƀ37.60, or just over $17,000.

The other two bounties relate to bitcoin-related theft.

The concept could extend far beyond bitcoin-related crimes, and allows people to anonymously contribute to bounties and anonymously collect them.

Bounties can only be collected once a suspect has been convicted and processed through the legal system, and the user must provide evidence suggesting that their information was what brought the criminal to justice.

Ver notes in his video that the service plans to soon introduce a trust-less solution, giving no one user control of funds.
