Dogecoin Becomes Official Supporter of African Space Campaign

Few days back, Foundation for Space Development CEO Jonathan Weltman persuaded the Dogecoin community to support a fundraiser for ‘Africa2Moon Mission’ – an initiative to establish Africa’s presence in the field of space science.

“The Crowdfunding campaign is primarily to enable us to maximize pan-African participation through outreach & participation programs during the year,” Weltman wrote. “The Phase I feasibility study will proceed regardless but to maximize the inspirational & educational benefits of such a high profile project we need capital to assist institutions across the continent to participate in the call for scientific proposals and submitting bids to participate in the various elements of the program.”

Dogecoin community, on the other hand, seemed overwhelmed with the proposal and agreed to be an integral part of it. It may sound a little amusing, but many Shibes admitted to be nostalgic about the use of “to moon” in the name of the project – a term which is commonly used for ‘bullish’ cryptocurrencies in the digital trading sector. Some even thought this event to be a great marketing opportunity, as it can literally send a Dogecoin symbol to the moon.

But overall, the main concern remained towards funding Africa2Moon Mission specifically for encouraging its young population to study space-related subjects like Mathematics and Physics. So in about 10 years from now, Africa could actually meet the challenge to send a mission to the moon. The basic premise of this project is supporting scientific developments on a continent whose people still remain deprived of receiving good education.

Dogecoin seems to the perfect cryptocurrency to have been associated with Weltman’s vision, thanks to their previous humanitarian ventures among which many were based in Africa.
