Digital Currency Council, a digital currency-training platform is now being accelerated by the coveted 500Startups Accelerator in Silicon Valley. Digital Currency Council is a startup founded by David Berger to offer training and certification programs in digital currencies to professionals whose work might involve dealing with digital currencies in either direct or indirect fashion. Apart from training and certifications, the company also offers ongoing practice and marketing support.
The programs offered by Digital Currency Council is targeted towards financial professionals, attorneys, accountants among others who will be dealing with digital currencies sooner or later. Especially with the increasing adoption of Bitcoin and emergence of digital economy, the knowledge of digital currency is essential.
500Startups is a four-month accelerator program run from three different places in the United States. 500Startups has facilities in Mountain View, San Francisco and Mexico City. 500Startups is founded by Dave McClure and is well known for its Geeks on a Plane program where a selected bunch of startups, investors and mentors travel around the world to understand high-growth tech markets across the globe.
The increasing number of Bitcoin based startups being incubated by 500Statups and other business incubators and accelerators around the world serves as an indicator of the market potential bitcoin and other digital currencies have in the future economy. Some of the digital currency based startups accelerated by 500Staratups include BTCjam, Coinalytics, Coinpip, Hellobit, Neuroware and Gogocoin.
Established last September, Digital Currency Council has so far had the backing of Bitcoin Opportunity Corp., a New York based Bitcoin investment entity and Barry Silbert. Barry will also be investing in the further round as a part of the 500Startups program.
