BitPay and GASH Bring Bitcoin to 10 Million Gamers in Asia

Taiwan’s leading gaming payment platform GASH Point has partnered with global bitcoin payment processor BitPay to enable over 10 million gamers in Asia to top up and reload their in-game cash with Bitcoin.

GASH Point, one of Asia’s largest gaming platforms launched by Taiwanese media giant Gamania, has been serving international customers with its reloadable wallet and prepaid card for online gaming purchases.

Over the past few years, GASH Point has established itself as the go-to platform for in-game and gaming gift cards purchases, processing more than 3 million transactions per day. Through its partnership with BitPay, the gaming company aims to provide users in Taiwan and Hong Kong a convenient and simple method of using Bitcoin to top up payments.

GASH Point was made for simple and convenient digital content purchases. Now that customers can use any Bitcoin wallet to load their GASH Point accounts in seconds, gamers will have a way to get back to enjoying their purchases in even less time, announced James Warpole, marketing associate at BitPay.

Users purchasing or topping up their accounts using Bitcoin aren’t required by the platform to provide personal and financial data, unlike credit card and banking platforms. This will eliminate any possibility of identity theft and breach of personal information. In the upcoming months, the GASH team will work with BitPay to target gamers across the Southeast Asia region and offer ways to purchase GASH points and gaming money with Bitcoin alongside other local payment methods.

The GASH team has a great vision for bitcoin payments. We’re excited to begin working with them to make Bitcoin the natural choice for digital purchases in Taiwan and throughout Southeast Asia,” said the BitPay team.

Last month, Business Insider UK reported that BitPay drifted apart from Bitcoin and focused on the development of enterprise solutions to help large and established businesses and institutions deploy applications that use the blockchain technology. “BitPay has also moved away from its original business model of providing software to let businesses accept bitcoin payments, said Oscar Grut.

However, with the new partnership, BitPay aims to continue its support and development of Bitcoin-related services and products, to assist platforms like GASH in offering Bitcoin payment solutions to its clients.
