So the news that Austrian digital currency start-up Coinimal had added a new bank transfer service to its platform hit press today via a Reddit post from the company. The company has added GIROPAY to its instant payment offerings – a German-based Internet payment system. The system is the most popular method of transacting online in Germany, and is a step forward for both bitcoin space as a whole and the digital currency environment in Austria.
From the post:
We, https://coinimal.com, have added GIROPAY, the German instant bank transfer service to our platform.
Austria has been relatively slow to adopt bitcoin (when compared to some of its European neighbours such as Germany and the Netherlands) but it now seems that the train is finally out of the station and they are embracing the technology.
What does it mean for German bitcoin users?
With GIROPAY now integrated into the Coinimal sphere, German bitcoin users have the facility to buy or sell the digital currency in a matter of minutes, any time or day of the year. Coinimal’s website states that there are no fees associated with the transaction, but as far as we can tell GIROPAY charges 3% flat on transactions. We are unsure whether users of the service in conjunction with Coinimal will incur these fees, but for now, we thought it was worth mentioning.
GIROPAY joins four other payment processing offerings, Sofort, EPS, SEPA and Online Bank Transfer, to become the fifth of its kind on the site. Coinimal can also be used to purchase or sell other cryptocoins, including NXT and LTC.
You can find out more about GIROPAY here, and access the Coinimal platform here. Are you a Coinimal user? Have you used any of the currently available offerings on the site? Let us know what you think!
