Taylor Swift Gets Hacked; Lizard Squad Demands Bitcoin

Taylor Swift is the latest celebrity victim to have her social media accounts hacked by the Lizard Squad, a black hat hacking group known for their claims of DDoS attacks on unsuspecting figures.

After allegedly hijacking Swift’s Twitter and Instagram accounts, the group is claiming to have obtained nude photos of the renowned pop star, and says they will release the photos for the public’s viewing pleasure if they do not receive their stated ransom in, you guessed it… Bitcoin…

These last several months have witnessed a number of young starlets falling victim to attacks like these.  Between Jennifer Lawrence, Anna Kendrick and others, this seems to be turning into something of a trend amongst cyber criminals.  Furthermore, it always seems that these supposed hackers are able to get their hands on private, nude photos of the actresses in question.

I don’t want to make assumptions here, but is it really all that likely that practically every single young actress working in Hollywood today has nude photos floating around somewhere?  Is taking your clothes off really a necessity when it comes to making a name for yourself in Tinseltown, or is this something of a cliche?  Furthermore, it seems that pictures like that, if they do exist, would be tied, locked up and bolted shut in a safe somewhere that nobody had the combination for.  In other words, this is the kind of thing that you’d probably keep hidden, so how likely is it that so many of these photos even exist?

My guess is that they don’t, and apparently the 25-year-old singer says the same thing.  In a comedic gesture, Swift acknowledges her solid looks and confirms that there are probably a lot of people out there who would get a real kick out of such photos, but that the opportunity will ultimately be denied simply because the photos… Aren’t real…

Following the message from Lizard Squad, Swift wrote on her Twitter page:

“PS any hackers saying they have ‘nudes’?  Psssh you’d love that wouldn’t you!  Have fun photoshopping cause you got NOTHING.”

The singer has since garnered new passwords for her hacked accounts and Lizard Squad has not been heard of since.
