Bitcoin at CES 2015: The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is an annual technology extravaganza which is often seen as the best event for presenting new technologies to the broader industry and, most importantly, to the world’s media. Hoping to capitalize on this opportunity in 2015 will be the ‘World of Bitcoin’ showcase, a joint venture led by some of the biggest names in the digital currency industry.
Occupying an impressive 2000 ft2 island on the showcase floor of CES 2015, The World of Bitcoin will feature a range of educational stands to guide newcomers through their first steps into digital currency, such as setting up a wallet and buying their first coins, as well as showcasing cutting edge innovations and products. Promotions and giveaways are expected to further raise awareness and draw in the crowds, whilst announcements from big players such as BitPay, expected to introduce new products at the start of the show, will be eagerly awaited by enthusiasts.
In total, ten major companies have announced their involvement in The World of Bitcoins Showcase:
- Bitmain: Mining hardware and cloud mining
- BitPay: Payment processing
- Bitstamp: Bitcoin exchange
- Blockchain: Online wallet and blockchain explorer
- Circle: Consumer finance app
- Copay: Secured, shared wallets

If previous years are anything to go by, more than 170,000 people are expected to attend CES in Las Vegas, Nevada from the 6th to the 9th of January 2015. After a tough year in 2014, many enthusiast will be hoping that the event will mark the beginning of a year of mainstream acceptance in 2015.
Driving home the importance of Bitcoin’s technological innovations, IBM are also expected to use the Consumer Electronics Show to unveil the first working prototype of ‘Adept‘, their new ‘Internet of Things’ project built on block chain technology
