Bitcoin Price Passes $500 as Optimism Continues

Have you checked the price of bitcoin today? You might have noticed it’s climbed up a bit more than when you had last checked it.

At Bitstamp, the current price (as of this writing, of course) is about $511 — up just over three percent in the last twenty-four hours.

Passing the $500 mark, some say, is a move past a big psychological barrier, which could of course mean that the price could continue its climb.

That said, it’s difficult to pinpoint just what caused the price increase in the first place after hovering in the $400s for quite a while, but it will most certainly be interesting to see where the price goes to here.

And speaking of the price specifically, you’ll notice that today’s high was a whopping $529 (at Bitstamp). It’s since gone down, but there’s no shortage of folks just waiting to see that price climb higher.

This time last year, the price of bitcoin climbed from double-digits to three digits in the matter of days. Later in the year (the month of November, specifically), the price surged past $1000 in record-breaking fashion.

That second price jump was attributed to Chinese involvement in bitcoin – which has since seemingly waned as more and more exchanges in the country find ways to remain relevant.
