Last Week’s Poll: Accepting Your Salary Entirely in Bitcoin

If you haven’t already noticed, we’ve started a weekly poll here at NEWSBTC. You can find it in the sidebar in the lower right-hand corner of the site.

Each week (starting on Friday), we aim to ask bitcoin-related questions, and last week was the first.

The question was simple: Would you accept your salary paid for entirely in bitcoin?

For many crypto fans, the answer is easy. For others still learning about the technology, it could go either way. So let’s take a look at the results.

And then there are the folks who wouldn’t, couldn’t, and maybe shouldn’t accept their pay entirely in bitcoin.

Right out of the way, the mini-poll received 131 votes (which is quite few and disappointing when you think about it, but maybe we’ll get some more involvement in the next few weeks).

Of those who voted, a whopping 74 percent said that yes, they would accept their salary paid for entirely in bitcoin, whilst the other 25 percent (34 votes) said they wouldn’t.

For a site that focuses exclusively on bitcoin, the results aren’t terribly surprising. Most people are here because they are fascinated by digital currency and its use.

But there are others who feel they likely couldn’t manage to live on bitcoin alone. It could pose to be too challenging.

I know for me personally it’s rather difficult. From my favorite sushi joint to paying for the hosting of this website, many of the places I visit and services I use don’t accept bitcoin (although Xapo has an interesting new MasterCard offering).

We must remember that with over five years of age, bitcoin is still very much an infant. There’s still much more growing to do, and with that comes growing pains.

Certainly, it will be interesting to perhaps ask this question again in a year or two and see how the results change (if at all).

So I throw it back to you for this week’s poll:

Next week we’ll take a look and see how this pans out (it’s a controversial and much-debated question, indeed). So far, we’re pretty close between yes/no.
