“Origins” is an open edition piece by VESA still available for a few hours.
Only 7 have been purchased thus far and it was on show via the Morrow Collective at one of the most sought after museum spaces in the world – Museum Of the Future in Dubai last Friday.
What is the drop it about?
The Flower Of Life pattern can be found in ancient temples across the world. It is said that everything comes into being through it in the material realm. The unity of this one pattern unveils the entire multi-faceted, diverse cosmos. As humans we have a lot in common, yet we are as unique as our fingerprints. This poses the paradox of our existence. We are both centralised and decentralised at the same time. The perception war between the two rages on in most humans. We require many states of consciousness to explore the sunbeam we are suspended on.
Origins is also an appropriate name for a featured work in this space, as VESA has been a front-runner in three art movements: integral art, crypto art and NFTs.
The room was full of people from the origins of crypto art & NFTs. The show was put together with the help of UAE Embassy in the US.
What was the show about?
Co-existing and collaborating people and ideas lean on the growth of the entire ecosystem. Growing number of nodes or hives of activity boost the productivity and utility of the organism, whether it is the internet or a city we are observing.
This co-creative, transformative nature of our modern creative effort is the backbone of the art show ‘Rhizomatic’ by Morrow Collective on Nifty Gateway. The bridge building show teethers right on the mirage-like line of physical and digital and represents the sprouting, Rhizomatic principles from the curation of the artists to the physical exhibition space. What does a show like this say of the UAE as an emerging crypto hub? And is that an alien spaceship?

The Curation
The curation of the drop and the show itself celebrates artists from and working in the United Arab Emirates. The country that is characterized by melting nationalities together is emerging as the leading launchpad for crypto and NFT projects worldwide.
The artists have all embraced Web3 concepts in their practices and embark on distilling individual, yet common narratives. Mattar Bin Lahej, Sacha Jafri, Orkhan Mammadov, Abdulla Albedwawi X Salem Al Zaabi, Madga Malkoun, VESA, Fabin Rasheed, Nujoon Alghanem and Kristel Bechara have been hand-picked to exhibit. The curator, Morrow Collective, is known for collaging together past and present, rooted in strong concepts and expression.
The work of Orkhan Mammadov was innovatively exhibited on the rugs he draws his inspiration from.
The works of Mattar Bin Lahej, who also has designed the calligraphy of the museum itself, are absolutely stunning. It was a great pleasure to meet him.
Morrow Collective drops run in parallel with their real-life exhibitions, presenting a multi-faceted experience for the future savvy collector.

Providing a platform for the drop will be a very well-known player in the space, Nifty Gateway.
The location of the physical exhibition, The Museum of the Future in Dubai, dubbed the most beautiful building in the world, is a magnificent backdrop for Rhizomatic, perfectly in line with the desire to build new and nurture lineage at the same time.
It was also a great pleasure to meet Coldie from the OG crew of us 10 first artists in the crypto art space altogether.
Similarily meeting Jon from Superrare was a great privilege. He was one of the first ever professional calls I was on in this space back in 2018.
It was the dream of Anita aka Krypto Granny back to years ago that we would get to exhibit my work at The Museum of the Future. It was great to share this moment with her and my wife. She just opened up her new website, so pls go and check it out.

Look Ahead
Recent events in crypto have settled us again among some familiar questions; trust, user experience and real-world utility as concepts are floating in the air. Many have commented on how these types of incidents harm the entire ecosystem, legacy world players stepping onto the scene or indeed prestigious art venues might be harder to secure for projects with blockchain or Web3 connotations. On the other hand, staying the course, focusing on partnerships and players that are not in their first rodeo is an absolute must and Rhizomatic is one of those examples of a platform, collective and artists who are in it for the long run and recognize the best location in the world to do it in.
We’ve said before, and we’ll say it again, never mind the bear when you’re flying with the falcon.
