Airbitz and Augur are partnering up to deploy the Airbitz Edge Security Platform. What makes this new service so valuable is how it offers a secure account creation process for end-users. Additionally, encryption, backups, and synchronization across all devices will be part of this solution as well.
A Mainstream Audience for Augur
But there’s more to the Airbitz Edge Security Platform, as it will allow users to use decentralized blockchain applications, such as Augur. To be more precise, this environment is the first of its kind to offer this type of functionality in a secure and seamless manner.
Forecast Foundation’s Augur Core Developer Jack Peterson told the media:
“We want Augur to be just like using a regular website, from the user’s point of view. Our partnership with Airbitz is a big step towards this goal: users will have the option to use a more traditional accounts system, instead of having to manually manage their cryptographic keys.”
To put this news into perspective, Ethereum-based applications will become more accessible to mainstream consumers. At the same time, the end user will remain in full control of their private data, which is a major factor. Airbitz has also announced they plan to bring this technology to other Ethereum and Bitcoin applications in the future.
Airbitz Co-founder and CEO Paul Puey explained it as follows:
“Call it a prediction, but when fully released, Augur will have with the most seamless account creation, encryption, backup, and synchronization process in the industry, as well as close integration with Airbitz accounts. Augur has developed an industry disrupting product that may drastically reshape our financial markets. An empowering decentralized app like Augur helps round out the offering of decentralized currencies like Bitcoin. The Airbitz team is happy to be working with Augur to deliver our Edge Security platform to Augur users.”
Airbitz Edge Security Platform Beyond Blockchain
As is the case with most of the technology revolving around blockchain, Airbitz Edge Security can be used outside of the traditional distributed ledger system as well. Healthcare, Internet of Things, authentication, and even secure messaging are all areas where this new project could make an impact in the future.
Providing better ease-of-use and security to the table to all of these platforms will help put Airbitz Edge Security on the technology map. With the challenges faced by security experts in the consumer and enterprise department, reducing the amount of sensitive data being stored is a solid business strategy moving forward.
Bringing this type of technology to the Augur platform first is a significant feather in the cap for this project. The decentralized prediction market running on the Ethereum blockchain has been getting a lot of attention lately. Through Airbitz Edge Security, becoming part of this platform became a whole lot easier.
Upcoming Augur Events
There is even more positive news for Augur, as the team will be attending the CNBC & Singularity U’s Exponential Finance Innovation Lab on June 7-8. Keeping in mind how this event is one of the biggest FinTech conferences of the year, this is good publicity for Augur. However, it is important to note the company attended the same event last year as well, which resulted in setting the tone for the project’s crowdsale.
Moreover, the Augur 101: When Ethereum Meets Prediction Markets event is scheduled for the evening of June 8. Taking places at the Barclays’ NY Accelerator, a presentation on Augur will be held. With over 250 RSVP’s and a growing waiting list, this officially makes that evening the largest American Ethereum event recorded so far.
