Virtual currency exchange Cryptsy is planning to take a bold new step when it comes to their trading support come Tuesday, July 1st. Posted now on the exchange’s website is a notice informing users that USD trading is slated to commence tomorrow “in many locations around the world.”
The message reads:
USD Trading Starting Soon
USD Trading will start on July 1st in many locations around the world. If you haven’t already, then now would be a good time to get your account verified.
Of course, the ability to buy bitcoin and other altcoins with United States dollars has been around for a long time, but for users of the exchange — which happens to be the largest in terms of alternative coins — it’s a brilliant step forward.
But with such a step comes the risk of authorities in the United States descending down and looking on with a watchful eye. As most of us would come to expect, they do take this seriously, and as such, Cryptsy will likely be responsible for doing their due diligence in making sure they are complying with anti-money laundering and know-your-customer (AML/KYC) regulations.
Cryptsy was started by Paul Vernon (who also goes by ‘BigVern’), who joined the cryptocurrency community several years ago as a mining pool operator. Soon after, he formed an exchange to allow altcoin users to make trades conveniently, and here we have Cryptsy.
Are you a Cryptsy user? If so, are you excited to see USD trading become a part of the platform?
