Bitcoin expert and Blockchain.info Chief Security Officer Andreas Antonopoulos has come forth with some interesting remarks via Twitter Wednesday afternoon.
Without any context, Antonopoulos wrote that he could no longer have “even the smallest association” with the Bitcoin Foundation. Why? “Because of the complete lack of transparency,” he wrote.

The comments come at an interesting time, particularity following news that a Bitcoin Foundation board member is launching his own virtual currency and that the Foundation has hired a lobbying firm to look after their interests in Washington. That isn’t likely to be the trigger of Antonopoulos’s comments today, however.
The Bitcoin Foundation has long been criticized for their lack of transparency and lack of communication, often drawing angry and frustrated reactions from members of the community.
Back in April, a number of Bitcoin Foundation members resigned, unhappy with the Foundation’s direction. That movement was triggered by child-actor-turned-entrepreneur Brock Pierce’s appointment to the Foundation’s board, which many have since contested.
NEWSBTC attempted to reach out to both Antonopoulos and the Bitcoin Foundation for comment on the matter, but did not receive responses before time of publishing.
Should that change, we will update this article accordingly.
In the meantime, this seems like a fitting time for this week’s poll, which we posted up this past weekend:
