ANX Bitcoin Debit Cards Turn Out to be a Hot Ticket Item

We received an email this morning from Hong Kong exchange ANX on the topic of the company’s recently-announced bitcoin debit card, which allows customers to easily spend their bitcoins at many locations that take traditional debit cards.

Not surprisingly, the cards were very much in demand.

“Our World’s First Bitcoin Debit Card Launch was very successful,” wrote a company spokeswoman in an email to the press. “All cards were sold out within 24 hours.”

And while we haven’t been hearing any first-hand accounts from customers, the spokeswoman noted that people do seem to be enjoying them.

“We already have customer feedback on using the cards and they have been very positive. We pride ourselves in only announcing when we are able to deliver which means ANX is really the World’s FIRST exchange to be able to deliver a REAL Bitcoin Debit Card that can be used internationally in over 30M merchants worldwide.”

So popular have the cards been that the ANX team is ready to blast away another batch to those who weren’t able to get theirs during the first round of deliveries.

“We have already received our second batch of cards which we are unpacking in the office now and processing the backlog of reservations,” the spokeswoman added. “The demand for these cards has been under estimated.”

It’s unclear how many cards will be made available in the second batch (pictured above), but if those boxes are any indicator, it would appear as if they’ve got quite a lot to be made available.

A number of other companies, including Xapo, are hoping to bring bitcoin debit cards to market as soon as possible, allowing consumers to spend bitcoins virtually anywhere.
