The highly-anticipated Bitcoin 2014 Conference kicks off today in Amsterdam.
Put on by the Bitcoin Foundation, the conference runs from today (the 15th) through May 17th and features of slew activities and presentations that will make any enthusiast giddy.
Today’s events include an invitation-only International Affiliate Summit, and invitation-only Correspondents Reception, a invitation-only sunset cruise, and a welcome reception spearheaded by Circle Internet Financial’s Jeremy Allaire.
The event will feature a number of well-known speakers, of which include Blockchain’s Nic Cary, Bobby Lee of BTC China, Brian Armstrong of Coinbase, and event Overstock CEO Patrick Byrne.
Later in the event, Bitcoin 2014 will host the first annual Blockchain awards, in which awards will be given out to companies and individuals who have notable accomplishments in our industry.
The event will also host a startup challenge, in which eight finalists will compete to win $10,000 in bitcoin and an opportunity to pitch their idea to a San Francisco-based venture capitalist.
