There certainly has been a ton of talk lately on the topic of the recently-released BitLicense proposal, which at this juncture is presently in an extended commenting period that expires on the 21st of October.
The latest on this front is news that the Bitcoin Center NYC has met up with the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) to talk about the proposal.
That’s according to an email blast issued by the Center this morning, which indicates that the Center’s Executive Director, Raymond Cline, met up with Dana Syracuse at NYDFS headquarters in New York for the discussions.
No new information was shared at the meeting, though it was mentioned that the Department of Financial Services has been receiving less feedback than anticipated during the 45-day extension of the commenting period, which was originally slated to end this month.
The Bitcoin Center NYC — which frequently hosts bitcoin-related events at their base just one hundred feet from the New York Stock Exchange — stressed that the community must continue to submit comments to the NYDFS.
In particular, comments relating to the impact of the BitLicense on small and medium-sized businesses is considered to be of great value to the NYDFS as they work to understand community sentiments and make appropriate amendments.
“Make no mistake, this is a call to action,” the press release read. “If Bitcoin should receive fair and favorable regulation it is up to the community to make sure that the regulators have a clear understanding of the faults in their proposal. If you have not yet sent in your feedback, please take some time to do so now. The future is in our hands.”
