There is a certain rivalry between Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin Cash supporters. While the developers aren’t necessarily at war, both communities certainly have some issues. This development also leads to various companies having to pick one side or the other. In the case of CryptoGraffiti, the project no longer accepts BTC payments but is now a full-fledged Bitcoin Cash supporter instead.
While CryptoGraffiti is not a major platform per se, their voice deserves to be heard. It is evident the company is no longer a fan of Bitcoin Core as we know it. In fact, they refer to it as the SegWitCoin fork. A surprising decision, considering Bitcoin is and always will be the original chain. Every other currency is a fork, including Bitcoin Cash. This twisting of words indicates how the truth is often being twisted to suit individual political agendas.
An Interesting Choice by CryptoGraffiti
It does make sense the company wants to get rid of Bitcoin itself, though. More specifically, they don’t like to pay high transaction fees. Then again, those fees have been mostly absent due to the activation of SegWit. Going all-in on Bitcoin Cash may create some bad blood in the long run. After all, they have clearly taken a side and turning back on this decision will certainly be frowned upon.
At the same time, one has to commend CryptoGraffiti for taking an actual stance on this topic during such a difficult time. It is good to see more BCH support, although the way this message is conveyed isn’t entirely professional. Then again, that doesn’t come as a big surprise whenever this BTC vs BCH discussion flares up again. Rest assured there will be some more debates like these over the next few weeks and months.
In the end, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. When stores decide to drop Bitcoin in favor of something else, they have to be certain it will pay off. Whether or not that will be the case for CryptoGraffiti, remains to be seen. It is a bold move by the company, to say the very least. There is no right or wrong in this regard, although that will always be subject to interpretation. It will be interesting to see how this decision plays out for the company.
