Have you heard of BitPay? They’re the largest Bitcoin payment processor out there, and they’re coming out to say that they’ve recently processed the largest Bitcoin transaction to date for Butterfly Labs (you know, the company that manufacturers miners) in the amount of about $1,000,000 USD. The time needed for the transaction? About one business day. That’s extremely quick from buyer to seller, if you haven’t already noticed.
“The speed, reliability, and certainty of payments over the bitcoin network is expanding at a rapid pace, and in many regards has already surpassed the functionality of our 60-year old credit card networks,” says Tony Gallippi, BitPay head-honcho. “Butterfly Labs can now ship this merchandise with confidence that there will be no reversibility or chargeback of the payment, which is a significant risk when accepting credit cards online or PayPal.”
The elephant in the room is just what this hardware worth $1 million USD is worth? Customized miner? Will they ship it to the customer this century?
At any rate, it’s a notable milestone for the Bitcoin. Thought this was worth sharing.
