Here’s another interesting and important milestone in the Blockchain.info story.
The bitcoin-centric information and wallet/merchant services company has surpassed a whopping 2 million web wallet users (otherwise known as MyWallet users). Specifically, we’re looking at about 2,000,415 at the time of this writing.
The announcement came via Blockchain.info’s Twitter feed Sunday afternoon:
Here’s to Two Million #Blockchain wallets, millions more, & putting #bitcoin in everyone’s hands! https://t.co/ZxHfIuom8u
— Blockchain.info (@blockchain) August 10, 2014
You can view a chart of MyWallet’s growth since late last year below.
Aside from the fact the number of users has steadily been increasing, you can see a growth spike in the later end of the year, which coincides with a massive price spike in November in which the price of bitcoin topped $1,000 at multiple exchanges (with the most quoted being the now-defunct Mt. Gox exchange).
This milestone comes months following the initial break past 1 million wallets in January of this year, and then 1.5 million wallets in mid-April.
Meanwhile, competitor (of sorts) Coinbase of San Francisco’s latest wallet count is 1.5 million (though they are in a slightly difference business).
It’s interesting to see Blockchain.info’s growth, which is also representative of bitcoin’s growth at the very same time. And should we see another price spike in the near future, you can almost certainly bet that scores of new users will be joining the community.
