Blockchain Merchant App Released For Android

Blockchain Merchant App

The folks at Blockchain.info have released what they’re calling the ‘Blockchain Merchant App‘ for devices running the Android mobile operating system. It’s exactly as it sounds, an application that serves as an easy means for businesses to accept bitcoin from their clients.

Merchants interested in the application simply need to download from the Google Play Store, set up a 4-digit PIN, specify the receiving bitcoin address, the name of the business and currency preference, and wham-bam, an instant way to start accepting payments.

The app is free, and there are no transaction fees applicable, making it a really attractive offering for merchants who don’t wish to instantly convert BTC payments to fiat currency. For those who require instant conversion to fiat, they’ll have to look into existing offerings like Coinbase or BitPay, as examples.

The widespread use of the app could very well encourage businesses to hold bitcoin, which many consider to be supremely important for the long-term growth of the digital currency.

Blockchain.info is quickly becoming a one-stop shop for bitcoin services. From a web-based wallet service, to blockchain explorer, a new bitcoin exchange, and now a merchant app. They’ve seemingly got it all covered.
