Bitcoin startup ChangeTip is releasing a new feature that will allow users to receive tips without a social media account, so for anybody without Facebook or Twitter or maybe just living 15 years in the past… This is pretty convenient.
Vice-president of community development Victoria van Eyk states:
“I’ve used this feature to tip cap drivers who are interested in bitcoin, friends and to show others how easy it is to send bitcoin over different mediums. I plan on tipping some journalists tonight who may not have a Twitter handle.”
She also added that while the sender does need a social media-based ChangeTip account in order to send funds, the recipient, in fact, doesn’t even need an email. Tips can be sent through Skype or any other kind of similar messaging service:
“The One Time Tip link enables people to send bitcoin in an e-mail or over chat messages like Skype… It’s really never been easier to send someone bitcoin. Simply type in the amount you wish to send, copy the link and send it to the intended recipient. Done.”
Van Eyk enthusiastically mentioned that people are having fun with the new feature and are applying it to unique uses:
“Adam Guerbuez had a little giveaway – the first people to click his link won some money through the One Time Tip link. Martin Holland over at OurEverydayEarth.com set up an online scavenger hunt, by hiding money in his posts online.”
