Following the resounding success of its Generation Zero “Buddies” NFT sale earlier this year, Singapore-based blockchain startup Affyn has rolled out the first “Land NFTs” for its metaverse game NEXUS World.
Singapore becomes the first virtual city set to join the NEXUS World, with many more virtual cities to follow. To begin, Affyn has made public the first 2,000 “Freehold Land NFTs” for Singapore, with each NFT tied to a corresponding real-world location.
The Land NFTs serve a key role in the NEXUS World. Besides acting as digital representations of actual locations, Land NFTs offer several perks for their owners. Users with “Flags” from Affyn’s ongoing Flag Sale event can begin snapping up Singapore Land NFTs starting from December 17th (12:00 UTC).
Rare Benefits & Rewards Packed into Each Land NFT
Because Affyn’s NEXUS World metaverse utilizes mobile geolocation technology, all virtual cities are directly mapped to their respective physical locations. Accordingly, each Land NFT comes with different combinations of geographical features and climates like sand, rock, and grass.
Additionally, features vary by the rarity level of the Land NFT, meaning users with rare Land NFTs collect additional benefits, including the chance to spawn rare “Buddies.” To make things easier for participants, the Affyn team has divided the Land NFTs into four groups: Common, Rare, Epic, and Mythical.
Land NFT owners can tap into several revenue and reward generation streams by renting out portions of their assets (land) to other NEXUS World participants. They can even host virtual games and competitions, facilitate events and interactive sessions, and explore different activities that attract and engage players within NEXUS World.
Owners of Land NFTs act as “mayors” of the properties, controlling the virtual property and customizing its functionalities to set up a range of activities and events on the land. As more players visit the properties and use their accompanying services, mayors generate revenue from participation. Apart from the monetization potential, the Land NFTs offer owners exclusive access to campaigns and events.
Affyn’s NEXUS World metaverse leverages augmented reality (AR), blockchain technology, and mobile geolocation to deliver an engaging play-and-earn gaming experience that benefits all participants.
