The expanded partnership will bring a host of novel features to the Club’s official website, extend Fan Token utilities beyond the Socios.com app, and unlock more rewards and benefits for token holders.
La Liga footballing giant Atlético de Madrid and Chiliz, the SportFi infrastructure provider and Socios.com app creator, announced plans to expand their current partnership to offer more benefits and utilities to Fan Token holders. The latest partnership aims at driving fan adoption to blockchain and providing a more accessible route for potential fans to join Atlético de Madrid.
Following the partnership, the football club will integrate the Fan Token with its digital media ecosystem, expanding the reach for new fans to buy the token. This is made possible by Chiliz’ partner LiveLike, a company that specializes in audience engagement through gamified experiences.
“We want to continue improving the experience of our fans worldwide and this new integration with Socios.com is perfectly aligned with our strategy,” said Alejandro Ugarrio, Director of Atleti Lab. “We are very excited because, through our app, fans will now be able to access a very attractive proposition full of different types of benefits for them.”
Chiliz leverages blockchain technology to power a SportFi ecosystem, with the platform specifically designed for the sports and entertainment sectors. The platform provides sports teams, musicians, artists etc. a platform to create and manage fungible digital assets like Fan Tokens, which are used to engage and reward sports fans, along with NFTs for ticketing and memorabilia.
The fan engagement platform has partnered with top clubs across Europe and the world such as FC Barcelona, AS Roma, Corinthians, and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) to create their own fan tokens. The strategic partnership with Atlético de Madrid started in 2019, with the club becoming the first Spanish club to launch its official Fan Token. Since its launch, thousands of fan token holders from 120+ countries have taken part in dozens of fan-related decisions by voting on binding Fan Polls. Additionally, holders have earned rewards, merchandise and exclusive experiences by holding the token such as being part of the team’s official season photo.

By scaling up the partnership, Atlético de Madrid Fan Token holders will enjoy added benefits and the number of rewards they can earn. Additionally, with the integration of the token on the club’s official App, holders will have access to more utilities, opportunities and capabilities linked to their tokens.
Fans will be able to participate in fan polls and quizzes, which will be launched daily, allowing holders to earn points, which can be redeemed for exclusive prizes. The points can also be redeemed for fan tokens, allowing also offer new fans a chance to hold the Atlético de Madrid Fan Tokens for free.
