Uminers (HK), a crypto mining equipment and facility company, announced a construction of its new data center in Ethiopia. This strategic expansion is set to significantly enhance the company’s mining capacity and reinforce its global market presence.
The construction of this ambitious project has officially commenced, with completion targeted for autumn 2024. The 1st phase will operationalize a powerful setup with a 100 megawatt capacity, deploying around 24,000 high-performance ASIC miners, including the latest models such as Antminer S21, S21 Hydro, T21, and S19.
“The increasing complexity of mining necessitates greater investment in robust equipment. The industrial-scale mining for extracting the remaining bitcoins has never been more pertinent,” Batyr Hydyrov, President of Uminers, informed. He further noted, that “the battle for accessing sufficient electrical power is intensifying globally, as the slowdown in miner sales worldwide is mainly due to the scarcity of installation sites and available power capacity.”
Ethiopia was selected as the site for this new facility due to the country’s significant advantages, including its access to cheap, eco-friendly hydroelectric power. That makes Ethiopia an optimal location for constructing mining data center.
“Our actions align with the motto ‘Crypto needs more power,’ a theme we have consistently presented at industry expos. The leadership at Uminers understands the trajectory of the industry and is strategically positioning the company to meet these evolving demands,” Batyr Hydyrov stated.
“Uminers plans to expand its operations in various regions including Africa, the Middle East and South America,” the company representative noted.
The project will not only strengthen UMINERS position in the global market but also contribute to the economic and technological development of Ethiopia.
