As a part of a demo campaign, decentralized crowdfunding application Lighthouse recently raised 1 BTC for the Dark Wallet Fundraiser.
The platform’s chief developer Mike Hearn & team started hosting this project less than a month back. Being a new company, the fundraiser initiator — codename BashCo — simply wanted to test Lighthouse out before moving further with bigger fundraising campaigns for Dark Wallet. This clearly explains why the target was kept such low as 1 BTC.
Upon finalizing Round I, BashCo mentioned a minor hiccup he faced in the pledging system, which was later found to have stemmed from a server-related issue related to reconciliation of pledges. “Somehow Lighthouse registered all the pledges twice,” BashCo stated. ‘I restarted and everything went through fine.”
Another Dark Wallet Fundraiser Expected
Upon the successful completion of Round I, BashCo is now hoping to use Lighthouse to host yet another crowdfunding campaign for Dark Wallet — this time with a slightly larger amount. “I considered a more ambitious goal of 10 BTC, but this is just a test,” he mentioned at the time of launch. “Assuming the fundraiser is successful, we can try something more ambitious for Round Two.”
No Association with Dark Wallet Team
Several speculations, made during the funding round, called BashCo one of the developers of Dark Wallet, probably due to his highly enthusiastic approach to take the crowdfunding project towards its conclusion. The anonymous identity however declined any association with the Dark Wallet team, instead he called himself someone who simply supports privacy-supporting initiatives.
