DECENT–Platform Aiming to Reshape the Online Publishing Industry

DECENT Rocket

Matej Michalko, Founder, and CEO of DECENT believes that it is ‘the community, the philosophy of delegation, and the ignorance of the publisher’s authority,’ in which the true strength of DECENT lies. With this ideology in mind, the platform continues on its path to recreate the online content distribution processes by eliminating the middlemen between the author and the consumers.

The Blockchain R&D Hub of DECENT has been established in Yerevan, Armenia and is led by Harvard grad Gagik Yeghiazarian. The place is currently home to many world tech leaders, and is also known as the “the Silicon Valley of Transcaucasia.” The Blockchain R&D Hub of DECENT is the subsidiary that is responsible for the development of the core blockchain architecture as well as apps on top of the DECENT platform, which include DECENT Web, DECENT Music, DECENT Books, and DECENT Stream.

DECENT Network is already out with its first application called the DECDENT GO application. It is built on top of the DECENT Blockchain Network and allows content publishing and buying on a peer-to-peer principle. The application demonstrates its functionalities and potential.

DECENT allows for users to browse through content via categories, search for the content or the author they wish to look for, read content descriptions and user comments, purchase content, and rate and a review the content. At the same time, the authors (content creators) will also be at an advantage as they’ll be able to upload their own content and decide for themselves whether it should be free or not.

The framework for each DECENT network project will be exact. The DECENT GO application is already out and the others like DECENT network, DECENT music, DECENT books, etc. will be released in the near future.

The most ambitious is the DECENT stream application, which will combine the author-consumer relationship with the tens of thousands of movies and TV shows that can be accessed instantly.

The DECENT protocol makes for an interesting user experience while at the same time benefits content creators as it allows for an unrestricted and unaudited exchange of its unique digital products. It is the author who decides the final digital content price in the absence the third party’s intermediary fee and the potential buyer decides whether to buy the content or not.

Further, each transaction is recorded in an immutable data storage unit, which guarantees network security through the encryption system, making the platform intruder-proof. DECENT is set to be launched on June 30, 2017.
