But there is more, as Gem has a very handy tool to record any data on a blockchain. GemOS, as this solution is called, serves as a very basic operating system to complete this task. The GemOS operating system gives the healthcare industry convenient access to securing patient data while adding it to a blockchain that can be shared across departments in real-time.

Last but not least, the Gem team wants to explore the role of blockchain in the healthcare Internet of Things sector. With wearables, pacemakers, and hearing aids recording a lot of critical data, securely collecting and authenticating this data is an area well worth exploring in the coming years.
