California-based bitcoin startup Gem has partnered with digital currency retailer expresscoin. Gem’s multi-sig wallet and high security standards will now be available to users of expresscoin, which until now has been based on a special “bring your own wallet” platform.
CEO and founder of Gem Micah Winkelspecht states:
“Expresscoin has gone out of their way to increase access to Bitcoin as much as possible, which is in line with our philosophy of making bitcoin security easy for developers. From the very beginning, we wanted Gem to empower digital currency companies to focus on building great user experiences, instead of focusing on infrastructure… Partnering with expresscoin, one of the industry’s most prominent digital currency retailers, is the next big step in showcasing how seamlessly Gem’s API can integrate into other apps and services while maintaining the level of security consumers demand.”
CEO of expresscoin Will Wheeler added his enthusiasm to the mix, saying:
“Keeping our customers’ funds safe while allowing them full control and manageability of their coins is our number one priority… Gem’s cutting-edge platform offers our customers the security and flexibility they desire and allows us to focus on providing a superior service.”
Current expresscoin customers will be granted wallets with Gem’s current multi-sig functionality, while new customers will be given a special co-op wallet. All current customers who eventually want to switch to the upcoming co-op wallet platform will be given the option to do so.
