Hotel Booking Site GoCityHotels.com Will Soon Accept Bitcoin

If there’s something the bitcoin community is great at, it’s telling businesses that they should accept bitcoin.

In this thread on social sharing website Reddit.com, the members of the community recently discussed convincing hotel booking agency GoCityHotels.com to accept bitcoin in exchange for hotel room reservations.

Turns out it worked.

The website responded to the community on Friday in this thread, noting boldly that they give in, and have decided to accept bitcoin due to overwhelming demand.

In all, over two hundred bitcoin community members reached out to the company, flooding their inboxes with messages on the matter.

“It will take a while to get through them all and get replies to everyone and to find and answer all the questions you guys asked on here and in your emails but I fully intend to,” wrote a company representative. “There is just a lot of you.”

The good news for the community: the service will be including bitcoin as a payment option this month.

“I spent a good chunk of today talking with programmers about APIs and wallets so we can decide exactly what we need to do with our site to add Bitcoin as a payment option,” wrote Nick, the representative.

Bitcoiners responded to the post enthusiastically, not surprisingly.

“I’m very happy about your decision. Glad to tell you me and my friends will soon use your service for summer holidays and we’ll pay with Bitcoin,” wrote one [link].

“Thank you for helping bitcoin grow!” another chimed in [link].

The service’s decision to accept bitcoin could be especially beneficial to travelers going abroad. By paying with bitcoin, they don’t need to worry about conversion rates from currency to currency.

And the acceptance doesn’t go without benefit to GoCityHotels.com, also. By accepting bitcoin, they don’t have to deal with expensive credit card processing fees or risk having charges reversed.
