Jim Harper: Few Things to Say Regarding Future of the BTC Foundation

The upcoming Bitcoin Foundation elections has everyone on the edge of their seats, and many enthusiasts are wondering and waiting who will be chosen.

For some, the pressure is stronger than that of a mere observer.  They, themselves, are waiting to see if they will serve on the company’s board and be able to advise its members regarding the future of not only the organization, but even on the future of bitcoin.

Recently, Jim Harper expressed a few words regarding the Bitcoin Foundation.  Harper was released not too long ago from his position as the association’s Global Policy Counsel, a title he first garnered in early 2014.  The foundation made it clear that it would be focusing less on regulation, and more on the development of its infrasturcture.  Following his forced exit, Harper said that he wasn’t quite ready to part ways fully with the Bitcoin Foundation and made the decision to run for a position on the organization’s board.

It appears Harper doesn’t believe that the Bitcoin Foundation is doing as well as it could be, and he wants to remain at the center of the action to see about putting the organization on the right track.  When asked why he is running for a Director seat and what he plans to do in that seat, Harper explained:

“The Bitcoin Foundation hasn’t reached its potential.  It has a strong public brand, but an uneven reputation in the Bitcoin community.  I’d like to see to it that the foundation has a solid sense of its mission, a plan to execute on that mission, an organization chart tailored to the purpose, staff who are up to the challenges, and a reliable fundraising operation.  Smart, steady leadership that keeps the foundation producing results over a good period of time will make the foundation a clearly recognized leader in development of the Bitcoin ecosystem.”

What do you guys think?  Can Harper push the foundation forward?  Post your comments below.
