The folks over at KnCMiner today announced their brand-new Neptune ASIC Bitcoin miner, complete with 20nm chips capable of 2TH processing power (0.7 watts per GH/sec, which makes it 30 percent more power efficient than the current generation). Right now, the Neptune is just an announcement. Nothing has launched, and the company isn’t being precise on just when consumers can expect release.
As of current, KnCMiner co-founder Sam Cole says shipping can be expected by “end of winter/early spring”, and also notes that consumers in the United States who purchase the device may have power issues.
“American houses don’t have the same supply as Sweden or Germany,” says Cole, pointing out that residential homes will be unable to handle the power draw on a fuse.
Pre-ordering starts today, but interestingly, no price has been provided.
