Major Law Firm McLaughlin & Stern Now Accepting Bitcoin

One of New York’s most distinguished law firms, McLaughlin & Stern, LLP, has announced that they are now accepting bitcoin payments for their legal services effective immediately, according to CoinApex.

Headquartered in New York City (with offices in West Palm Beach, Florida and other locations in New York), the firm practices in a number of different fields, of which include taxation, employment, real estate, and bankruptcy.

“We are excited to offer our clients a new way to pay,” said Michael Paradise, member of the law firm’s Executive Committee. “We believe it is important that if we want to be on the cutting edge of the law and technology, we must adapt and apply the law to these new technologies. By accepting bitcoin, we hope to demonstrate that there is no tension between innovation and prudence. The best companies in this space that we engage with are especially sensitive to complying with the law and we have been there to help guide them in the process.”

In order to make the acceptance happen, the company has reportedly partnered up with Coin.co Systems, an enterprise bitcoin merchant processing company based out of New York.

This will allow clients to use the digital currency to pay with little risk to the firm, which is protected from volatility through instant bitcoin-to-dollar conversion.

Legal services can be costly, and bitcoin acceptance in this case just might be worth it for the firm.

With near-instant payments and minimal fees, payment goes from point A to point B with little hassle. The question is, will anyone actually pay them using crypto-currency?

Time will tell, of course, but it’s an interesting development in the bitcoin economy.
