The Mofos.com adult website network is reportedly piloting bitcoin payments across their network of 13 websites. The roll-out starts with their IKnowThatGirl.com property — and joining the website allows access to all other sites on the Mofos.com network.

The news comes a little under a month following a newsBTC report that sister network Brazzers is likely poised to accept bitcoin in the near future.

The Mofos.com network is owned by MindGeek, the largest operator of online porn-related content in the world. Based in Luxembourg, the company runs adult sites like PornHub.com, YouPorn.com, and xTube.com, to name a few.

The success of the pilot could very well mean expansion of the payment method across other MindGeek properties.

Already, we see Porn.com accepting bitcoin, and bitcoin news website CoinDesk reported today that bitcoin accounts for 10 percent of all sales on the website.

A Reddit.com user who posted the news urged fellow community members to support the trial:

Helping to increase wider adoption and stimulate the bitcoin economy is good for everyone. These guys are the biggest adult operation on the planet, and the more merchants accepting bitcoin the better! We need to show them that adding bitcoin as a payment method was a good idea…

Some speculate that online pornography could very well be bitcoin’s “killer app” — and that may be so. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see whether or not bitcoin acceptance on adult websites becomes commonplace.
