Nebraska Gets its First Bitcoin BTM

Nebraskans now have a whole new reason to enjoy digital currency.  The state has installed its first bitcoin BTM right outside Jones Bros. Cupcakes in Aksarben Village, thus giving many digital currency enthusiasts the opportunity to satisfy their cravings for sweets while using their coins simultaneously.

The machine is being brought to the Omaha area by Alpha Bitcoin, a bitcoin company located in Papillion, Nebraska.  Jones Bros. is now the 15th establishment in the area to accept bitcoin as a form of payment.

Alpha Bitcoin’s Edward Weniger explains why the location was chosen for the installation of the machine:

“There’s a start-up kind of hum to it.  The typical bitcoin user is generally an affluent male with tech experience, so Aksraben Village is right up our alley as far as what we’re looking for in terms of a potential.”

Bill Jones, owner of Jones Bros. Cupcakes, also had some positive things to say about the machine’s integration:

“I think digital pay, period, whether it’s Bitcoin or something else, is the future of the industry.  I rarely carry cash anymore, but I always have my phone… I shouldn’t even say it’s the future because it’s starting to happen right now.  We want to be a part of that, and we feel this is kind of our way to… level the footing with some of these larger corporations.”

Jones Bros. will hold an official launch party on January 16th which will feature free cupcakes, drinks and prizes for those in attendance.
