University of Nicosia Offers MSc in Digital Currency

The University of Nicosia became the first university in the world to accept Bitcoin in November. The University has also offered a free MOOC “Introduction to Digital Curriencies.” Now the university is offering a nine course MSc in Digital Curriencies. The courses for this degree will be offered on-campus and online in English which you can pay for all in Bitcoin and get 5% off.

The program is “designed to help financial services and business professionals, entrepreneurs, government officials and public administrators better understand the technical underpinnings of digital currency, how it will likely interact with existing monetary and financial systems, and what opportunities exist for innovation in digital currency systems.”

The Introduction to Digital Curriencies course will feature lecturers Andreas Antonopoulos, Antonis Polemitis and Dmitry Apraksin.

“While digital currency is a relatively new concept, currency is one of the oldest human inventions. What we aim to explore in this program is the likely development pathway of digital currency and give our students insights that they can bring to bear in their professional careers.”

Dr. Christos Vlachos, the University’s Chief Financial Officer, is aware of the innovation Bitcoin will have in “online commerce, financial systems, international payments and remittances and global economic development.” Vlachos also believes “digital currency will create more efficient services and will serve as a mechanism for spreading financial services to under-banked regions of the world.”

The total cost of the master’s program is €11,760 (approximately $16,250 USD or 36.28 BTC).
