Some interesting is coming out from the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS). Ben Lawsky, superintendent for the organization sent out a tweet Thursday afternoon with statistics on who viewed the hearings on the topic of bitcoin that took place Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, which featured the likes of Jeremy Allaire, Fred Ehrsam, and Charlie Lee.
According to Lawsky, online streams of the bitcoin hearings were viewed on the order of 32,000 times by 14,000 unique viewers from a whopping 117 countries, commonwealths, and territories around the world.
United States viewers made up about 38.9 percent of total viewers, with China viewers coming in at 12.6 percent. The United Kingdom, Canada, Russia came in third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively.
The hearings even got the attention from viewers in Monaco, Montenegro, and the Faroe Islands.
It’s proof that interest in bitcoin is growing all over the world, and rapidly. What comes as a direct result of the hearings is still unclear, but it could very well set a precedent for other states in the USA, and other countries entirely.
