Pounce Teams Up With Coinbase To Allow Shopping at Target and Other Major Retailers Using Bitcoin

Pounce LogoShopping at Target, Best Buy, and other retailers using bitcoin may have just gotten a whole lot easier.

One-tap shopping app Pounce has teamed up with Coinbase in order to allow consumers to complete their purchases using the digital currency, opening their doors to a whole new customer base.

Other retailers users can buy from include Lord & Taylor, Toys “R” Us, Macy’s and more.

The app’s selling point is that consumers need not hassle themselves through checkout processes when ordering from their favorite stores. By allowing users to scan what they see and subsequently purchase it in a matter of seconds, it streamlines the process of online shopping even more so than it already is.

Interestingly, the application is only available for iOS. Given Apple’s anti-bitcoin stance, some users aren’t pleased.

“Apple only? Fail,” wrote one user on Reddit.com.

“Very cool but kind of ironic they are an iPhone only app,” another said.

But for the bitcoin enthusiasts who use iOS devices, it’s a win.

“We’re thrilled to welcome the team at Pounce to the Coinbase family of merchants and believe that the ability for shoppers to buy with bitcoin across such an impressive lineup of major retailers is yet another step toward helping bitcoin become more mainstream,” Coinbase said in their announcement.
