Wilmington, North Carolina-based REEDS Jewelers has announced that they are the newest player in the game of bitcoin acceptance.
The large and well-known jewelry store chain has teamed up with Coinbase to allow for bitcoin acceptance both on their online store and all 64 retails locations sprinkled throughout the United States.
Customers will be able to purchase gold ingots and fine jewelry and watched using the digital currency, complete with GIA grading reports, according to today’s announcement.
“Since our founding in 1946, REEDS Jewelers has aimed for excellence in customer service and providing the latest innovations to enhance the shopping experience,” said REEDS CEO Alan Zimmer. “REEDS was one of the first jewelers with a digital presence, launching our website in 1998, and being the first fine jeweler to accept bitcoin in all retail locations and online at REEDS.com is a natural evolution. REEDS Jewelers is pleased to be open for business with bitcoin.”
REEDS has even set up a page for bitcoin acceptance at REEDS.com/bitcoin, in order to serve as an information center for prospective customers.
Each REEDS store will be outfitted with a tablet in order to accommodate bitcoin acceptance. Employees will, over the next couple of weeks, will be educated on how to accept bitcoin.
