The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs committee will today be holding a hearing on Capitol Hill at 3PM Eastern time on the topic of Bitcoin. Titled “Beyond Silk Road: Potential Risks, Threats, and Promises of Virtual Currencies”, the hearing will consist of two panels. One panel of witnesses will represent the U.S. Government, and the other will represent Bitcoin.
From our post yesterday: Witnesses on the side of the federal government include Jennifer Shasky Calvery of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Mythili Ramanof the U.S. Department of Justice, and Edward W. Lowery III from the United States Secret Service.
On the side of Bitcoin, Ernie Allen from The International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children, Patrick Murck of The Bitcoin Foundation, Jeremy Allaire from Circle Financial, and Jerry Brito from George Mason University.
