Richard Branson Says Banking “In Midst Enormous Change & Innovation”

In light of recent news that Virgin’s Richard Branson contributed to BitPay’s enormous $30 million Series A funding, the man himself has made a statement on the matter, according to Business Insider.

Branson’s interest in the bitcoin space is seemingly expanding. After all, this isn’t his first dealing with the digital currency.

Last year, Branson announced that his latest venture, Virgin Galactic, would be allowing customers to pay for their tickets (which cost $250,000 per person) in bitcoin.

Over seven have been reported to have paid with the digital currency, including a flight attendant from Hawaii.

The statement may not surprise those in the bitcoin/cryptocurrency community in the least:

Banking as we know it is in the midst of enormous change and innovation. We have jumped in by investing in alternative payment models and also by accepting bitcoin for tickets on Virgin Galactic, the world’s first commercial spaceline.

Bitpay has proven itself to process bitcoin safely and reliably, growing the market and increasing adoption, which continues to build trust, legitimacy and momentum in this exciting currency revolution.

An interesting choice of words, indeed.

Could this alternative means of making payments be the future? Branson just might be one of many influential entities that think so.

It is unclear just how much Branson invested into BitPay.
