We’ve talked extensively about Las Vegas-based bitcoin ATM manufacturer Robocoin. The company came to light following the shipment of an ATM to a downtown Vancouver coffee shop.
The company is now venturing to new frontiers. Shipments this month are expected to hit Hong Kong and Taiwan — although exact locations are unknown.
“Bitcoin demand in Asia is amazing,” says Jordan Kelley, Robocoin’s CEO. “We have many Asian countries seeking to enhance consumer capability to buy and sell bitcoin securely and safely.”
But if you thought the far east is where Robocoin is ending the story, you’re sadly mistaken. Plans are underway to bring the ATMs to additional locations in Canada, Europe, and the United States, of course (hint: Manhattan appears to be in the pipeline).
Robocoin has seen a tremendous response with their ATM product. The Vancouver location did over $1 million in transactions in the first month alone. Will new locations see the same success now that the launch buzz has worn off? Time will tell. (via TechCrunch)
