Demand for bitcoin ATMs are seemingly at an all-time high.
One of the leaders in the industry, Las Vegas-based Robocoin, reported some impressive numbers in an email update from head honcho Jordan Kelley.
Said Kelley:
“Robocoins are live in Japan, Australia, London, Israel, Singapore, Canada and the United States (Texas, California and now South Carolina). There are 13 Robocoins in operation exchanging bitcoins for Yen, Australian Dollars, Pounds, Singapore Dollars, Shekels, Canadian Dollars and US Dollars respectively.”
According to Kelley, more units have been shipped to Italy, Ireland, Italy, Hong Kong, Mexico and here in the United States and will be coming online in the very near future.
This puts Robocoin as having shipped 35 Robocoin ATMs, and the company says their plans are to ship another 50 before Summer.
Kelley also announced that the company has brought aboard their eighth team member to their headquarters in Las Vegas — a group that now consists of six engineers.
“Now we have dedicated Operator-support engineers to go along with our A+ developers,” he said.
“We also teamed up with a top design firm in the southwest and are still working with the best kiosk factory in the U.S. Along with our eight full-timers, we now have over 20 partners, contractors and vendors supporting Robocoin’s efforts,” he added.
Perhaps most interestingly, the firm says they are planning to announce ‘something big’ come May 1st.
No indication was provided as to what the announcement might be, but we’ll obviously update accordingly as we receive more information.
