The state of South Carolina has gotten its first bitcoin ATM. Unveiled today, the Robocoin ATM is operated by a company called Southeast Bitcoin, who hope to bring bitcoin in the hands of those unfamiliar with the process of going through an exchange, and so forth.
The machine in located in Charleston, South Carolina, and its first showcasing is at the Dig South Interactive Technology Festival. The ATM itself is located at the Charleston TD Arena.
“Charleston is quickly becoming the Southeast’s major hub for high-tech and innovation. It makes perfect sense for Charleston to be among the first cities in the country to have a Bitcoin ATM,” said Trey Morrison, company co-founder. “There has been a ton of excitement about Bitcoin technology, and we look forward to growing our business here inCharleston, and throughout the Southeast U.S.”
Robocoin bitcoin ATMs have been seemingly popping up in all corners of the globe — a rapid rate of growth for the Nevada-based company whose first machine debuted last year in a downtown Vancouver coffee shop.
What do you think of Robocoin’s ATM? I’m curious if any reader has been able to try one.
