Here’s something eye-catching that crossed the news desk today. Online media production company Streamin’ Garage announced today plans to produce a live bitcoin-only game show to be broadcast on the web.
Dubbed “Take My Bitcoins,” the programming is sponsored by Butterfly Labs — and according to Streamin’ Garage, “the first-of-its-kind game show will give away thousands of dollars per week in bitcoins.”
Each Thursday at 8 PM Pacific Time starting on April 3rd, a different celebrity co-host will be challenging online contestants to “games and knowledge,” and according to Streamin’ Garage, “Gameplay will incorporate a variety of social media, including live chat room, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram as well as call-ins via Skype and Google Voice.”
“Entering the innovative world of Bitcoin and combining it with a TV quality game show allows us to engage the audience in a whole new way. Being first in this arena continues with our goal of blurring the lines between TV and online content,” said Streamin’ Garage’s Mike Rotman.
Apparently, the groups are mining bitcoins at this very moment to offer up as prizes (they’ve even got a live camera of how much they’re mining, which you can see below). As of this time, the wallet balance appears to be zero.
Streamin’ Garage says that there’s no limit to the amount of winners, and the games will continue until the bitcoin wallet is empty.
